Thirty in Thirty - Day 30! "Rudbeckia Flower Patch"

Yeah!  The challenge is over.  While I didn't paint every day, I posted 22 paintings, and painted on 25 days.  There were 3 additional paintings that I started, but didn't complete to a point where I was comfortable posting them.  All in all, I painted more regularly than I ever have,
gained confidence, built a better painting work ethic, and I believe I learned a number of lessons as I worked.  So I'm satisfied that my participation in the challenge was well worthwhile.

Today's painting is based on a photo by Kim Steinman, with her permission.   I want to tackle it again soon in order to achieve a sunnier effect on the featured flowers.  I used this one to experiment with different approaches to laying down the paint for the flowers on a dark background, using different brushes and palette knives, both with and without medium.   I don't think I've yet found the most efficient and effective method for capturing the light on the flowers.

I love the Rudbeckia, Karen. It's one of my favorite flowers. There used to be hundreds of these growing right in front of our condo. Perhaps I love it as much as I do because it speaks of a sunny August day. That is definitely a fantasy on this cold, February night!

Thanks Suzi! I love those flowers too and we sure do need reminders of spring and summer.

I really wanted this one as well but it is not available-beautiful

Shari while that one is gone, I could do another similar one for you and in another size if preferred. Karen
